NEXT DOOR NOBU

Date: 1998
Size: 1300 sq/ft
Client: NOBU
Location: New York

Overview:
Next Door Nobu was inspired by the paragon of noodle shops in the movie Tampopo, to create an intimate and comfortable space.
A palette of neural tones and natural materials are used, such as pea-green oynx, scorched wood and polished brass, inspired by chef Nobu Matsuhisa's origins in Japan.
A glowing bar is made of sake bottles and a curving wall is covered in yakinori (dried seaweed) representing the blending of food and space.
